Help Save The Old Beach
Our Mission
As residents and friends of
the Old Beach Neighborhood of Virginia Beach,
our mission is to save our cottage community
from being crushed by a huge combined school and
in the process, save the homes that are in the
line of fire.
On January 11, 2005, the Virginia Beach School
Board decided to pursue
"Option
5" to combine Beach Middle and Kemps Landing
Magnet schools on the current Beach Middle site.
In order to expand the middle school and add to
it the magnet school program, the School Board
will need to obtain 15 parcels of land,
including exercising eminent domain and taking 5
homes from Old Beach residents. And, the School
Board wants to buy several other homes that will
be negatively impacted by the school to the
point that they will be rendered worthless.
Please help us to preserve the Old Beach
community and join with us in our fight against
this monster school and the abuse of taxpayer
money. Help us convince the School Board to
NOT "put a 10-pound school in a 5-pound
neighborhood."
Please browse this website, view the proposed
site plan, check out the media coverage and then
help us take action.
Think it can't happen to
you?
